how do people on the internet make money?

how do people who do things on the internet make money eg the man who invented google. how is he so rich i dont understand. i dont pay to use google so how did he make the money from it

In case you havn't noticed (perhaps because you are using Firefox with advert blockers and 'scroogle' (see link) to strip out the fake 'hits'), google is RIDDLED with adverts ..

.. and the companies that ADVERTISE on Google PAY for those adverts to be pushed into your face :-)

Publicity money and business. But contrarily to what you may believe, most people don't make much money over the net.
