No, you should never run anything that burns fuel without adequate ventilation. Regardless of the size of the room, even a very small engine will raise the CO (Carbon Monoxide) levels to a dangerous level. This goes for generators, kerosene heaters, BBQs, etc.

Even if you vent the exhaust to the outside you will still need a Carbon Monoxide Detector before you can use the room safely. CO is colorless, odorless, and it will kill you without you even realizing it. Every year there are stories of people running generators or heaters inside and suffocating themselves. Don't be one of those people.

Can you do it??? Yes. Two things will go wrong.
a) If you are not in the room then the room will slowly fill with carbon monoxide and the oxygen levels will decrease until there is not enough oxygen going into the engine to maintain combustion. As this happens the generator engine will run worse and worse until it shuts down. At this point your lights will go out and you will go to check the generator and the carbon monoxide will kill you before you can step in the room.
b) If you are in the room, you'll never see the lights go out and the person who comes to check on you will be killed.

The length of time the generator will run (and thus, how long you have to live) can be calculated if you know the engine size to determine the combustion demands of oxygen use and thus CO exhaust. Oh and having someone else die as a result is negligent homocide or mansluaghter. Just so you know.

First of all..the only stupid question, is an unasked one..this is what yahoo questions and answers is for..to learn...But definately not, do not run A generator inside even if the vent is 6 feet by 6 feet..carbon monoxide can build up in corners, turns of the walls, closets. or any other areas with turns..or even a wide open room..this is very unsafe....Please put it outside..chain and lock it if this is a concern..and move to the inside NOT RUNNING..if you must go places and leave it unattended

Believe it or not there are natural gas generators that run cleanly enough that they can be used in, for example, high-rise office buildings. But you aren't going to find them at Home Depot.

You'll need to be more specific. Are you trying to calculate the floor area (which would be 150 sq ft) or are you trying to calculate how much paint to buy to cover the walls and the ceiling?

Not unless you have a vent. Otherwise, you're risking carbon monoxide poisoning.
