dog friendly road from from Michigan?

I'm looking to head out for a road trip in the next couple weeks, just me and my dogs. from Detroit to ..? Any suggestions on places to visit that are dog-friendly? Any suggestions on things to do, places to see within the surrounding states?

Sauygatuck is beautiful, a great little artist community nearby, right on the edge of Lake Michigan, and is very pet friendly. I went last summer and loved it.

Petoskey is a nice place to go.
