I woke up at 1 am this morning to use the bathroom and luckily hadenough sense to test! Immediatly I got a very bold positive! I used the equate brand with a + sign. The horizontal line is always there but if you are pregnant the vertical line appears! My vertical line was like twice as dark as my horizontal (you could read it a mile away)! Why is it so dark? Today is the first day of my missed period. Anyways, this was our first month not using protection. We are so excited and very surprised! Our baby is due very close to our 1 year wedding anniversary! Thanks and good luck to all!

WOW congratulations!!

you conceived so quickly...the dark lines just indicate that your pregnancy hormone level is quite strong in your body! and you are definately pregnant!

wonderful news so close to christmas!

congratulations to you both - its lovely to hear of the success stories, good luck!

The dark line means that you have a lot of the hormone HCG in your system. This is probably because you are a higher producer of this hormone, though I will tell you (don't freak out) that I got extremely dark lines while preggers with twins.

Also, the reason might be simply because you did this at 1am with "pure pee" not diluted during the day.

You don't need to take a second test before seeing the doc. Preg tests do NOT give false positives (Ok, there was an exception a few years ago on a batch of recalled tests that were giving positives to husbands, but that was an extreme case, lol) , and your doc will give you a regular pee pregnancy test anyways.

Congrats!

Congrats! I got my first BFP about two months ago, and had the same thing happen with the lines- they were both VERY dark. I thought maybe I was farther along than I had thought, but the ultrasound confirmed that I'm almost 12 weeks (this Saturday). You probably just had a lot of hcG in your system, which made the lines show up so dark.

Congrats on your BFP and your new baby!
