Nortons, is a hugh resource hog, very poor at detecting viruses, and if some are found fails to remove them 100%. Always leaves fragments. Plus if you ever go to your add/remove and try to remove Nortons, you will only think that you have removed. Actually you are left with over 375 fragments of Nortons/symantec glued to all your registry keys, files/folders and subsystem. You are going to play hell trying to remove them.

I can assure you as I perform beta testing for just about every antivirus/antispyware that comes out. Nortons was a nightmare removing from my pc.

There are free antiviurs program that are light years ahead of Nortons. Example Avast free home for personal use, give you an excellent background scanner that really works 100% to kill embedded trojans in real time. Plus you get on the hour updates daily. http://www.avast.com

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/... On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

It did mine, used alot of the RAM and hogged all the resouces. But alot of people use Norton, just because it did not work out for me dont mean to say it does not work for any one else. Its a very popular antivirus.
