Markers, because with crayons when it starts to run out you have to peel the paper off and it just gets messy!

Crayons - most definitely. You can create awesome shades and hues by mixing and blending. Ever tried to do that with markers? It doesn't work. Makes the paper soggy, turns that awful shade of brown, and turns any art project into something that looks like a preschooler did it. Crayons all the way!

Markers, can give you a wonderful range of colors and you can give them as much texture as you want or not any. The crayons never look like anything else but what they are, just crayons, always the same texture and not easy to combine with other colors or even media. Their waxy nature makes them very unforgiving to mix, even with other canyons.

I like markers personally, but for my kids I prefer crayons.
