Man hides behind The Mask of Sanity
But Socrates saw the truth and found the answer to answer all questions in existence.
Every tomorrow is a blank page....our lives are written on a pages that will never be read, for every page is thrown away.- Shades of Sorrow
Blank plus Blank is Blank.
Blank minus Blank is Blank.
Blank times Blank is Blank.
Blank divided by Blank is Blank.
All Blank that is, is Blank.
All Blank that isn't, is Blank.
Blank is Blank.
Blank is perfection. .......

Proclaiming anybody to be the 'wisest' is not very wise.

Socrates was certainly one of the most rational persons to ever express himself. His flaw, however, was in his reduction of all things in the world to a reasoned explanation, ignoring the visceral effects of emotion and intuition.
I would say that Friedrich Nietzsche was wiser than Socrates, if only because he recognized that humankind is NOT always rational, and not everything requires a reasoned response. Ludwig Wittgenstein employs that same principle, when at the end of his Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus he says (and I paraphrase) that some things must be passed over in silence. In other words, not everything can be articulated rationally.
Are Wittgenstein and Nietzsche the wisest men ever to have lived? Who knows. They were all brilliant thinkers in their own rights and should be appreciated for their contributions (Socrates, as well).

The Hindu Upanishads were written many thousands of years
before Socrates.
They were written by great Rishes who discussed a wide range of philosophical topics. One of them is about "nothing (void)".
Many questions were asked in the ancient Hindu
texts about the nature of Parama Atama (infinite
soul, or Almighty) and Atma (soul). In the olden
days, Gurus used to put these questions to
disciples to test their knowledge.
What is the constituent material of Almighty? All
created materials are subject to decay and
annihilation, Almighty is above the influence of
decay and annihilation. He is eternal.
Then is Almighty a void? In terms of material
characteristics, Almighty is void (Soonya).
Can this lead to the logic that Almighty is not
there? No. Almighty is there. He is consciousness,
the infinite consciousness. The Atma which is a
finite piece of Almighty, according to Advaita
Vedanta - the personal consciousness. Soul was
created in the likeness of the Infinite Soul.
Since Atma is only a minute piece of Almighty, is
it subjected to annihilation? No. Atma is also
eternal.

If wisdom is measured in oranges.... then the wisest man ever might well have been Spanish.
If wisdom is measured in money then Bill Gates wins it.
If wisdom is measured in paper hats then after much searching we might find the title in the hands of an old man who never truly aged....
But if wisdom is measured in nothing at all.... then how can we call any person any more wise than the next?
What is wisdom anyway?
I have no need of it.
I eat. I sleep. I ponder. I smile.
I am... and I am not.
That is all.

I agree. Socrates was indeed the wisest man . They liked best in him the modesty of wisdom. It was said that the Oracle of Delphi, with unusual good sense had pronounced him the wisest of the Greeks!
Thanks for asking. Have a great day!

socrates was one of the wisest men ever born on this planet but he was certainly not the wisest one. he didn't find all the answers but his all questions were dropped. there were no more question in his mind because he could realized futility of all the questions. Even if you know all the answers life remains same for you so there is no need to find answers of any questions. if you understand the simple phenomenon that there is nothing to obtain nowhere to reach you will also become as intelligent as Socrates was.
if you talk about materialistic world that certainly Socrates was not even as intelligent as you are right know you know about planes, rock ates, computers and many more thing which he was not aware of so got my pointin this regard you are even more intelligent than socrates.
