No, it's not wrong. She is a citizen and can speak her mind. Each of us can vote the way we choose.

She's doing it very irresponsibly by being so gung-ho Barack Obama. If she really wants to empower the people who watch her show, she should tell them all to read up on the candidates and choose the one that fits their own political opinions. Instead, she's telling everyone to vote for her guy.
I'd applaud Oprah for telling her viewers to get out and vote, or for telling everybody to get involved in campaigns and get passionate about politics, but to tell everyone to vote for her guy when she KNOWS that there are an awful lot of people who will just mindlessly do whatever she says is wrong.

No what is wrong is that our education system has for the past two decades turned out nothing but celebrity happy fools. (I trace it from the day America went Gaga over the Chuck and Di wedding, I kept walking around wondering what Happened to the American who threw the royals out on their butts 200 years before) If a lemming-American, is dumb enough to follow a politician or apolitical opinion because Oprah says so, or Rush says so, or Babara says so, or Ann says so, then we end up with the leaders we deserve, and as we can see from the current occupant of the White House, they tend to be nice but dumb.
It is past time for America to rethink our education system, to rethink what we consider celebrity and to get our news and information from real sources not Oprah, Rush, Bill, Al and the rest

It is her right, but I think it is improper for someone with such great influence, to push for the candidate of their choice to captive and captivated audiences. More so if her reasons are personal with her, or related to getting in a position to get more money and status from the endorsement.
Motives should be an issue there, and the basis for the endorsement should be crystal clear even to her most unthinking "customers."
Our political system has gone way too far "Hollywood", but then, our government-regulated Educational (?) system does not teach people to think for themselves; in fact it seldom teaches them to think, even, in my opinion. Only how to be politically correct and go with the flow.
Anyhow, when one has tremendous influence, and the people one will influence are non-thinkers in the main, an endorsement I think is a very bad idea, tho if she were to caveat it with the urging of people to think carefully for themselves, and NOT follow her lead blindly, and give other candidates equal time on her program to express their views so her audience has at least an opportunity to compare ON HER SHOW, I would not mind so much.
Someone with great influence has great responsibility to be sure people are not improperly influenced and that the other options are given fair play. That is a price of being rich and famous, and one very few of the rich and famous pay attention to, not believing in fair play.
I think the competition for endorsement of those who lead non-thinking audiences is one of the major blights on our body politic. I must say parenthetically Huzzah for Rush for not coming out for a candidate. Hope he stays that way, and encourages his following to check out all the options, and vote their educated and informed consciences.

It's not wrong for her to support a candidate. What seems wrong is that so many people will blindly follow her just beacuse she is on TV and has lot of money. She has no education. She has no political experience of her own.
The sad part is the ignorant American lambs that allow super wealthy uneducated celebrities to tell them what is right and wrong.

nope If i were a big star I would be on every show blasting Ron Paul.
If your passionate about something and you believe in it why not promote it.
However I don't think people should vote just because they trust Oprah's Judgment the purpose should be to only bring attention but not to imply that if she trusts him then everyone else should.
People need to look at the issues not celebrity. Celebrity should be used to bring focus on those issues.

No-voters in Iowa don't follow anyone. They usually don't have their minds made up till they get to the polls. After they've dont their research.
Obama was already ahead in Iowa. He didn't need Oprah.

Celebrity endorsements are not something new. While Bush was still popular Arnold Schwarzenegger (elected California's Governor by special election) gave him his endorsement (now no one claims Bush as a person who they wish to be associated with).
I prefer that to the mud slinging and name calling that often goes on. 8:)
I will not name names here but at one press conference a question was presented to the candidate as follows "How do we beat the B-i-t-c-h?" The candidate failed to correct this person for using a derogatory label as an unprovoked "joke" and that is just WRONG!

I don't find it right because then you have the people who watch her show and will vote for who ever she votes for. Hell, she says a book is good and it becomes a best seller.
The people who vote for some one just because a celebrity does it just plain ignorant. Learn to think for yourself and have your own opinions.
EDIT: The reason why I find it wrong is because she is doing it for the wrong reasons. She is simply supporting him for his race. She never supported a presidential candidate before?!
Why wouldn't she be excited for a women running and vote for Hillary Clinton(who is also a democrate).

Not at all.
Is it wrong for an impeached but not convicted ex-President to use his diminished influence to try to influence voters?
Celebrities have the same rights to their opinion as any other American, how you view their opinion is another matter.
Use critical thinking skills while assessing their point of view.
How much weight would you link to a non-high school graduates opinion?
How much weight does a Sean Penn opinion hold for you?
Got the picture?

I just think it's wrong because they aren't influenced by the candidate to vote for them. They are influenced by Oprah to vote for them. That's like getting a mini chiwawa just because paris hilton says it's cool!
