I need a map of Great Britain and one of France showing much detail, ie footpaths. I have been searching the web for days trying to find an on-line or paper map that meets my requirements, all I can find is road maps on such a large scale. Please can someone help?

Google Earth if your best bet. You'll never get a detailed map covering such a large area. You have to spend a fortune in a book show buying lots of detailed maps and piecing them together.

If you in the UK try Waterstones Bookstores, they have a massive range of maps and tourist books, and a huge number of them include walking areas and footpaths, you might need to buy area maps instead of one big book though
