first of all, is the DS lite inferior to the other DS?

Which one is better - PSP or DS? I don't care for looks I'm in it for the games the amount of use I'll get out of the portable in general.

I would say Sony PSP. But like it was mentioned on here, you can't really get the full capability of the PSP until you get a custom firmware installed. It's a lot of knowledge, but if you've got a general jist of what it's all about, you will find it very beneficial.

Also just wanted to comment on an answer stating that you "find an internet connection and wire it to the PSP", umm, this is not the way to connect to the internet. What you need is a wireless access point (either a wireless router or a USB dongle of some sort...I use Wifi MAX). The setup of this can be a headache, but again....if you've got the general knowledge it will do wonders for you.

On the other hand....DS Lite is the hottest thing right now. They're selling like crazy, FAR exceeding PSP sales. I would say there are probably about 3 times more games out for the DS, and that release number is only compounding. And as much as a majority of the games are for kids and the graphics aren't as good as PSP, the gameplay is awesome (which is in most cases more important than graphics), and the DS has seemed to give birth to a variety of dirrerent genres of games (Cooking Mama is a great example).

Both systems can wirelessly connect to their big bro systems (DS to Wii and PSP to PS3), both can download content from their big bros, but the one feature that has really steered me towards the PSP would have to be the backwards compatibility. Yes the DS can play GBA games (original ones too, which is always good!), but the PSP can play PSOne games (You can either buy them from the Playstation PC Store online, or you can download them illegally, which I don't recommend! The games are not original, but at the same time, you could burn that game onto 50 DVD's if you wanted to. Very easy to back up)

So I know I've written a novel, but I just thought I'd give you some knowledge and insight that is a little more accurate, and may give you a better idea of what you want to buy.

This is for all you fanboys out there.....
SONY PSP AND NINTENDO DS BOTH RULE!!!!!

The DS Lite is superior in features but it is a bit smaller so it's something to consider if you're older or have bigger hands. The DS Original is nearly impossible to find new though and I'm personally not a big fan of used systems.

I have both and I'd have to say that the DS is the better system overall. There's a broader selection of games and the touchscreen can be system seller at times.

On the other hand the PSP has some absolute slam dunk awesome games like Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, Final Fantasy Tactics, Monster Hunter Freedom, Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles and many more. Sure maybe they're ports but they're really awesome ports of really awesome games.

Probably the DS but I wouldn't count the PSP out entirely because it is a decent system especially if you're tech savvy and manage to install a custom firmware on it.

If you get a DS I highly recommend you pick up a flash cart which will allow you to play MP3s, watch movies, and run homebrew on your DS. You can also download games and play them not that I'd recommend something like that... *cough* G6 Real Slot 1 Card *cough*

PSP has better graphics but the battery life sucks on it compaired to the DS.

i would go psp i have one and enjoy it al the time and u can put pics music and video on it.

and it has wifi built in all u need is a wire connection somewhere and u are on the net with the PSP and ready to play games online or surf the net.

i would go PSP but that is what i think others might give u good reason to go DS just make sure u know what u really want before u get it.

always think about the games each one is gonna have that the other one does not

PSP is too busy being a low quality everything else to be a video game system. If you want a mp3 or video player, save your money and buy something that will do the same thing with better quality.
I say NDS, just because it's doing what it's supposed to do, be a handheld videogame system.

PSP has some really great titles and it focuses not just on kiddy games but ones for the more mature gamer. Unlike the DS which has to many kiddy games
