I am a stay at home mother of 2 (a 2 year old and an 8 month old). I have been asked to babsit a 5 month old child just on wed, and thursdays (a total of 18 hrs a week). I am not sure of what to charge them though?? I don't want to be greedy, but I don't want to be used either. This child swill need my full attention which means my own children will not get nearly enough attention as they once were getting... please help?

Depends on what part of NY. Upstate wouldn't get as much as the ity or Long Island.

I wouldn't be afraid to ask for at least $10 an hour for a child of that age and maybe negotiate from there. I wouldn't do it for any less than $7 an hour or you could always agree on a set amount for the two days rather than a $ an hour value.
Its hard work looking after a 5 month old as well as two other children. Don't sell yourself short.
