Do not take too great a stock in Science. The ability to have an open mind is to unlearn old truths. That happens as much in Science as it does in religion. For instance the second law of thermodynamics (entropy) proves that God created life. Entropy proves all things become more random, yet even the simplest form of life would never have come into being unless it was directed and created because it is so vastly complex that the molecules needed to creat it would decompose before it ever came to being an organism. Let alone all come to being in exactly the right order at the same time. I'll swear God exists till, you disprove the second law of thermodynamics.

First of all, this debate should never be brought in to politics. Second, Religion and Science should be seen as two distinctly different aspects of life.
Third, Elaine's comment seems completely juvenile. Wherever your personal feelings on faith lie, you can not tell me that either science or religion's explanation of creation make any more sense than the other. One side is like a 'best guess' and the other is explained by magic. Tell me I'm wrong, and why. But to base the entire debate between the two on what their stance on creation is would be absolutely silly.

I do not think there is actually any conflict in America. I am not aware of any religious group trying to impose there religious beliefs on others. There are some who would like their views included. I see no problem with that.
I believe in the truth. If science has a theory but not fact it should say so. If religion has belief but not fact it should also say so.
One must be very careful when speaking in absolutes regarding subjects beyond our comprehension. To answer you question directly, when science has the FACTS the Facts should override everything else. But when it only has theory or conjecture that is another story.
Merry Christmas!

I cannot think of one instance where science and religion should even come in conflict with each other.
The operative word here, is "should". fanatics will always make an exception for religion to conflict with anything that it shouldn't.
It also might help if people learned the difference between a "theory" that is a speculation, and a "scientific theory" that is based on observation of a hypothesis withstanding repeat experimentation. Just because something is followed by the word "theory" doesn't make it a scientific theory.

You couldn't be more wrong. The fact is science is based on fact and quite a bit of theory, while religion is based on faith. The two really have nothing in common. By the way Einstein, civilization is spelled with a 'z' not an 's'.

How?
Decode this lyrics " If you don't know me by now"
When science is only for the advancement of skills and technology on physical things in life.
Ever wonder can science override our creator's universal gifts of life in the spirit of God?
Luke 9.55-56
Look at the misery of living human kind with total loss of our creator's universal gifts of life that could noteven be trace or solve even with multi-billion dollars of latest and modern technology of artificial intelligence of Mr. Big Brother on land, in space or sea-below?
Luke 6.39-40,41-45,46-49
What do you think?

It could be true if the scientific facts are there. But a lot of "scientific theory" is just that...theory. Does anyone really believe that human life, with all it's intricacies came about from a big explosion of rocks and dust. I think that thinking takes more faith than logic!! Oh, and look...Beyonce agrees with you. That should settle it!! She sounds like a VERY educated person to me and she's on your side!!!!

science is science, religion is religion. religion has always held back science, on ridiculous superstitions, and fear that science will prove religion incorrect. i do beleive in god, but god has everything he needs, we dont and i dont exactly hear him giving any advice.

Just when you think that you've proved it scientifically, faith will throw a wrench into the works. I agree with you in regards to science, but faith is very powerful.
