the reason is because of snow and ice,causes the car to slide ..any ideas.?

.Yes. Of course. Sand bags are good cuz you might need the sand for traction if stuck. Anything with any weight works. Throw a dead cow in the trunk.

My solution is to buy a 50 lbs bag of stones or cement or sand at a Home Depot or Lowes for example and place in it the trunk, dead center. It will add enough weight over the rear wheels and some traction too.

Just add snow tires. All season radials with only 1/2 tread are dangerious in snowy climates. Visit tirerack.com before you strain your back adding weight. 4 snow tires for your winter car might keep you out of the ditch. Weight will help pull you into the ditch.
