Or do you pretty much see it as, noone forced them to start drinking/taking drugs, you made the bed so lie in it?

HS: It seems that genetics are getting blamed for everything these days . . . obesity, addictions, um, guess what, you eat, you get fat, you take drugs, you get addicted. People using the genetics excuse are just trying to find a scape goat to cover up their own weakness

I do when they are trying to get off the stuff but dont cope
but the ones i feel most sorry for are the babies that are born drug addicts, that is not their choice and they have to go through withdrawel as well, I volunteer once a week just to sit and hug the poor things( as their mother normally going through withdrawel also or just dont care) via a hug program just so they feel love its so heartbreaking watching them, oops just blabbling on but yes i do feel sorry for some

It's clear that to an extent you're ignorant concerning addictions. e.g. The great majority of alcoholics have a genetic predisposition to the disorder. No force or voluntary participation is involved. The proverbial bed as you say it, was already made for them.

I cant say that I do - I was around heroin addicts for 6 months and they were the most selfish people I have ever met in my life. Everything was about me, me, me. and they have very dirty habits too.
Drinkers are different but, like you said, you made your bed, now lie in it.
Some drinkers are great people, others are aggresive and nasty and hopefuly get what they deserve.

I don't have the heart not to feel sorry for them,
someone very dear to me has been clean and sober for about 1 year.♥I couldn't not blame myself at that time.
I've come to realize it's their decision but they need help.

i do feel sorry for them. i do think that they will only get help when they are ready. I'm a drug addict. i smoke way too many tobacco cigs. I'm going to lay them down on Jan. second. wish me luck.
