My daughter, who is 26 years old and have 4 kids age ranges from 2-8 need a place to live. She is living with me without my landlord permission and I want her to move out and give me my freedom again. I love her, I don't want to sound selfish or be mean, but her and her kids been living with me (again) for 5 months. She makes close to min wage, dropped out of HS.
I convinced her to go back to school but school is over now she needs to pay to take the GED test. But to make a long story short.

Are there any USA States that will pay for her rent & food while get a better job that can allow for her to provide for herself and kids ? There are other details with the family but cutting to the chase, I want her, and she want to her self – To get her own place.
Does anyone have any real suggestions without getting smart and disrespectful?

I have a question for you. why should we have to pay for your daughter and her children to live for free, eat for free, get healthcare for free, when she is the one who decided to have 4 kids, without having a good job, or a place to live? You are her mother, you take care of her. Don't ask us who work, and take care of our responsibility to take care of her problems. She will never learn. If she has so many mouths to feed then why is she only working close to min wage? Instead of trying to find free hand outs give her the classifieds, and tell her to find a better job, you watch the kids while she goes to work, and you pay for her to get her GED. It's time for her to be responsible don't you think?

Congrats on her going back to school and getting her GED, but 4 kids and she's not even 30.
First she needs to stop having babies. To many women are having babies just to have them, may I suggest birth control.
Second no place in the USA will pay 100% rent. What she needs to do is go to her the local welfare office and apply for help. But I'm sure with 4 kids she is already getting food stamps and medical. She will need to apply for Section 8 housing. She will still have to pay some towards rent but us tax payers pick up the rest. Since there are so many "moms" in the same situation, her name will go on a waiting list. She can be on that list anywhere from a month to years, depending on the area.
Lastly I hope the "dad" or "dad's" of these kids are paying child support. If they aren't your daughter needs to file for it.
Why should she look for a handout while they sit pretty not paying a dime!

I don't think there is a state that will pay 100%. The best thing she can do is apply for Section 8 housing. Some cities have public housing lists. There is usually a waiting list. All housing I have heard of requires at least partial payment of the rent. She will pay a percentage of her wages. I guess the only 100% deal would be going to a shelter for woman and children.

There are a lot of states that provide aid to a single mother. Check your local workforce job center. That would be a start in career placement and possibly and education. There are additional benefits that could be provided as long as she is going to school. She also has to have a part time job. You don't mention what state you are in. Go to your state website for children and families and see what they have to offer. I had one child back in 2001 in the state of Iowa and managed to go to college for 3 years on a pell grant. I worked part time. I had nominal child support coming from my ex. It was a tight budget but I managed. Unfortunately it sounds like she is free-loading off of you. She needs to learn how to do something other than have babies or she will be living with you forever. She needs some positive mentoring, counseling and her self esteem built back up. As I mentioned, there should be a state website where you live that can provide some information too. Good luck and God Bless you.

sorry I don't know of any states, and I glad she went back and got her GED, now she needs to get a trade, I am sure she can qualify for assistance in that area. To the dumb azz newyorkgirl, how is lazy when she has a job? your judgemental and bias, without even understanding the post. She obviously made some mistakes in life and she is now trying to get on the right track. All people on welfare are not lazy. Welfare is a stepping stone, and if you or anybody else needs it they should use it. And those of us who don't should just be thankful and pray that we never need it, not judge others who do.

She needs to go apply to the local housing authority and get on section 8. She also needs to get child support... for these kids... she should apply for that as well... Section 8 bases rent on income. She should also go down to the local job and family services to apply for food stamps, she should also apply for WIC. I am surprised noone told her all of this already. Email me if you have more questions.

All states have these programs, even the state you live in.

She should also go to the local county site at freecycle.org to get things she needs, and to get rid of things she does not need. Look up your area and/or state then the county you live in, do not go to craig's list...

Good Luck. She should also try to find herself a good man, and I mean a good good man, not someone who will sponge off of her section 8 housing. =) Section 8 also has a home ownership program if you have had your full time job for at least a year, check into it! =)

Why does everyone think the gov't should PAY for them to live or anyone who chose to make their situation worse (obviously she doesn't even make enough to support herself!!) I know you said not to be disrespectful, but I am soooo tired of seeing all the people asking for handouts!! You should have made her butt get an education instead she went out and had a bunch of babies that she, and also you expect for someone else to pay for......shame on you and your kind!!!

i'm so sorry you hit upon that your daughter cramps your kind and you do not prefer to offend her. you do not look to ideas offending the rest persons one bit. Who chosen to drop out of faculty? Who chosen to have 4 babies out of wedlock? the place is the father of those little ones? Who raised a girl of such positive character? Why is this meant to be our issue? it is your irresponsible family members, you take care of it. P.S. you're fairly egocentric, I see the place your daughter gets it from.
