why do so many modern female singers have to be writhing around half naked or on a bed in their videos, to sell their music?
It gets boring to see the same thing, why do they all have to do it how about someone who can just stand up there and sing for a chance?

That's the only way they can sell recordings.
I agree with you - it's so boring.
Talent seems to be a thing of the past. All a female needs now to become a celebrity (whatever that is) is a big bust and a willingness to show it off.
So what? When you've seen one, you've seen them all!

Sexuality has been used to sell records (and everything else) since the invention of advertising. Social conventions change, so what was once taboo is now acceptable, but the message has always been the same. Everyone from Sinatra to Elvis to Peggy Lee to Britney Spears has used sex to move product.

Have a star for saying what I've thought for a long time. Personally I like music for what it sounds like. It feels to me that those particular artists don't have the confidence to sell their song just for the music content, they need the sex in there just to make sure the over sexual teens or the not sexually active adults will buy it for the video.

Quite agree with you. It is a similar situation when a singer of either sex has backing dancers to give the sex image an airing. Personally I like to see lovely lady showing her body but it is so distracting when listening to the music.

I agree with you.
It has been going on for years though, and not just with women, Elvis and his wobbly hips moves are a prime example, he was censored from the waist down on television in one show.
It's not just records either, generic "Hot Chicks" aree used to sell just about anything these days!

simply the old guy that owns the record company thinks that is the ONLY way to sell records.
get rid of him and maybe a singer will become popular instead of a 'concept'

I agree.Debbie Harry always used to dress sexy but left it to your imagination.She is one of the sexiest ladies in rock and always will be,without having her jugs and bum falling out all over the place.Also have a look at a band called The Runaways.They dressed rock and are a far bigger turn on than Beyonce Knobhead and the like.

Basically because the majority of them cant sing. If they didn't wriggle about the place they would never sell a record.
