WHY DID THE GOV'T MAKE US CHANGE TO HIGH DEFINITION TV ?? IS THIS A MILITARY DECISION ??

The FCC as part of managing the broadcast airwaves (which we own collectively) pushed the move to HD to open up the airwaves for more cellphone signals and signals for thins like wireless. Thats why they are also pushing now for Digital radio

HD is a revised technology. It is an industry standard. All equipment had to be changed because digital and analog technologies are not compatible.
It was a method to get everyone on the same page, so there would not be duplicates like Sony Beta versus VHS cassette tapes.
It is not a military issue. In the US, the government will pay for converters, so people won't have to throw their old TV sets away.

The government can NOT make you change to high definition TV. The government can not even make you have a TV.
