Flu or not I wouldn't give a turkey house-room - I just seem to have gone off dry, tasteless poultry - even a decent chicken tastes better and more importantly, doesn't last for a fortnight looking sorrier for itself every day! ! !

Of course I will - the Bird Flu thing is a scare-mongering tactic like SARS was a few years back.

You cannot catch Avian Flu from your roast turkey.

IF, and I say IF, the strain develops to infect humans you have to breathe in the virus from large amounts of bird droppings - not likely an issue for the average uk house is it?

Why wouldn't you? For one thing the turkey is going to be in a hot oven for quite a while and secondly there is no evidence that a bird with flu can infect a human.

Bird flu poses no risk to humans provided the turkey is cooked properly and thoroughly and provided your basic food hygiene is good. The usual scaremongering by the media means that no doubt plenty of people will not buy though.

If you cook the bird properly, then the bird flu virus is erradicated. We don't like turkey, but are having a big Chicken, leg of lamb, beef, ham

Nope, I don't like Turkey. I'd rather have a nice Chicken or Roast Beef or Pork. I know I'm breaking "tradition" I don't want to be eating Turkey for a month either. So there.

Of course. Bird `flu only poses a problem when you come into close contact with live birds that have the desease.

We are having one of those bird inside a bird things. Apparently there will be 3 birds in total and I think turkey is one of them.

If it sneezes though when it's on the table I'm outta there :-)

I don't care about the bird flu but we don't often have turkey anyway - we've had curry, steak, hot dogs. This year it's going to be pheasant - never cooked it or eaten it, but at least I won't know what it's meant to taste like!
