I can't stand to have shoes on, anywhere, any time.
It's fine to drive barefoot. In spite of persistent myths, there are NO laws against driving barefoot. Unfortunately, this myth is so common that even some cops believe it... but everyone who believes this please see source and stop spreading this falsity.
Some cops are convinced it's unsafe and even though they know it's not illegal may try to write you up for unsafe or reckless driving, however please see the second and third link in the source, for two sites (one from the Michigan PD, one from an Australian newspaper) making it clear that driving barefoot is no more unsafe than many types of footwear that are regularly worn and could even be considered safer than many kinds of shoes.

Ever since I drove barefoot for the first time I have always hated driving with shoes on. I love the feeling of driving bare feet, the vibrations from the car engine on my soles tickles.
Now I always drive in bare feet
Everyone should try it, just for the experience.

I can't stand to wear shoes at all. I would go barefoot year round if I could. During the warmer months, I take off any footwear while driving.

I take shoes off as soon as I get in the car. I keep them close by in the floor so I can get 'em back on if I get pulled over.

Don't drive. But if I did, I'd be barefoot 25%+ of the time; I love being barefoot, and if it's Spring time/Summer time, then by all means! :D
