(and I wouldn't put too much stock in what "spacetrooper50" below, has to say! He says that he works for NASA, but how is that possible when he spells like a 5th grader, and quotes erroneous, so-called facts?)

Some people beleive its fake because of certain things that have seen or beleive to be true. For example, they say that if there is no atmosphere on the moon, how come the flag is waving when they are standing on the moon putting the flag in. The flag needs wind to move, so they must be faking it.

The flag is waving because its being supported by a metal rod, and the astronauts introduced occillations into the flag by touching it. Since there is no air, thus no air resistance on the moon, this phenomenon went on for quite a long time.

There are about 1 million other reasons they have come up with why they think its a conspiracy.

There are a lot of claims by the conspiracy buffs. I wish I could remember sites to point you toward. But it doesn't matter; they're not hard to find.

The only other thing that I would add is that it would seem to be easier to actually go to the Moon than it would be to fake it without it leaking out.

Consider the three astronauts killed on the first manned Apollo spacecraft. Did the gov't cold-bloodedly kill three men in order that the fake would be more convincing? Or did they hire three actors to play this part and then put them in the equivalent of the witness protection program? I can't help thinking that if they went to extremes like this, then evidence would have shown up by now. A whistle blower, or something like that.

There are a number of reasons why people claim to believe that the landings were faked.

I don't call them "evidence" because they are almost all built on false assumptions and lack of knowledge. In most cases, I think that people choose to believe in a conspiracy, and then look for any reasons to support it.

Why they do this I don't know. It may be because they think it makes them look intelligent to take up a minority position on an "intellectual" issue. The trouble with this is, they've chosen the one thing about which there's no debate at all. arguing about oil company influence in government, or even global warming would be more sensible.

For others, I think the reason is just that they are scared of how much they realise they don't know, and it's a form of rebellion. "You people think you're so smart, well I'm not going to listen to you. In fact, I say you're wrong. Nyah."

EDIT: When I submitted my answer, I saw spacetrooper50's reply. That's a perfect example of what I mentioned first. In fact, the reasons he gives are more ridiculous than most I've seen. Nothing he says is correct, and most of it is, to put it charitably, almost funny.

During the 60s when space exploration was just beginning, man realized that traveling beyond Earth's orbit and out of the safety of the magnetic field would be deadly to man. (This was found to be false as the Suns activity was in its 11 year low.)

Another reason is that so-called rocket scientists (only some of them) did not think that we could build a rocket that could take a man to the moon and safety return him to the Earth.

And the final thing was that there is one picture that has a rocket on it with the letter 'C' on it. Many skeptics believed that this was a movie prop and not a real landing. (This was found to be false when a piece of lint was found on the lens.)

I agree Tom. Spacetrooper is pretty far out there.

Some people have really sad and lonely lives and they believe that they can gain notoriety if they create these idiotic ideas and start these dumb conspiracy ideas. Others who are uninformed and looking for some excitement in their lives tend to believe these ideas because they are like lemmings and need follow someone even if that means that they are lead off a cliff to their death. There is also the excitement of anti-establishment thinking.

Dont be a fool and buy into their dumb ideas.
It did happen. Period.

You can say or use that word in my opinion, but there could be more proper word that will not sound so heavy. In my research i found that we don't have the technology to go back to the Moon otherwise NASA would have been back there.

Here is the argument that is never reason up to this day, why the United States of America never go back to the Moon? We have the Space Shuttle which is more advance than the one that they use to go there. It has more advance technology like the micro processor that does not exist on first time we landed on the Moon.

The truth is there is no Gravity on the Moon, Gravity only exist in Inner Space. Like for example, Gravity only exist on planet that has atmosphere like Earth. In Outer Space which can be referred to as zero Gravity, these means that Gravity does not apply on Space. Electro Magnetic force is the only thing that apply on Space.

Water is what generate the Gravity here on Earth, it is the evaporation process that create a loose atmosphere which separate the surface of the Earth from the vacuum of Space. It cannot be generated artificially by just pressurizing a Space module because you need a large body of matter to use as a shield from Super Nova.

Here are the clue" what is the surface temparature of the Moon? And what is the melting temparature of the sand?

Not everything is in School curriculum for Tom to think that i was wrong. Unfortunately he is paying atention to what i write instead of answering the question or use his intelligence to define the gap" why there is such a question to begin with. American people is asking question because that area of the matter is questionable, is not because they lack the knowlege or intelligence.

I'm a researcher and, I do study NASA research relating to artificial gravity and more, provided with equation that they used. I am not anti-NASA, infact I do know that the Astronaut want to go back to the Moon. This is a neutral analysis, speacially the question that I give base on NASA new picture of the surface of the Moon which is black. There are something that I don't considered like Gravity, because Science is still expanding and still exploring the Universe.

A couple of people decided they could make money by spreading doubt about the Moon landings. Their main audience is children and people of lower than average intelligence or education. That's about it, really.

There is no legitimate evidence that shows, nor any reason to think that, the moon landings were faked.

Of course, this doesn't stop a lot of losers from thinking just that. But many of them are probably the same people who disbelieve in Darwinian evolution, and think that angels come down to chat with them over coffee.

Some moon landings are real, however many videos of moon landings are faked.

If many originial videos of real moon landings are faked, it's most probably done because the originial videos aren't what they expected to show to the public.

Many believe the moon landings are fake due the fake videos and the current lack of any manned moon mission from any country.

yes I have very good reason to believe it is true because I watched it all happen more than once, I watched as Niel Armstrong took one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind and then watched them return to earth and splash down in the ocean, Believe what you wish but it was very real, and I really dont understand why there are a few who think it was a fake,, It would have costed more to create such a hoax than it did to actually do it,,
