Since trojans are not virii (*), antivirus aren't necessarily going to be effective against them. But if you are asking for antivirus suggestion, I would install either Avira or Avast before AVG due to AVG's poor detection rates.
Avast 4 Home Edition: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
Avira AntiVir PE Classic: http://www.free-av.com/
But if you already have an antivirus installed and aren't going to change, here are some antispyware that are particularly good at finding and removing trojans:
Superantispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/
A-Squared Free: http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/
Spyware Doctor Starter Edition: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5790.html
If your scans are finding infections but not removing them, re-run the scans in safe mode with your hidden files shown:
How to start in safe mode: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html
How to see your hidden files: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html
> When you're done, don't forget to re-hide those files that you unhid.
Good luck.

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/... On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

definite loose utility is powerful. computer virus is a application that is composed of or installs a malicious application (additionally nicely-known through fact the payload or 'trojan'). The term is derived from the classical delusion of the computer virus. Trojan horses could seem to be clever or thrilling courses (or not less than possibility loose) to an unsuspecting consumer, yet are certainly volatile while accomplished

You should visit http://free.grisoft.com
Then you would know what AVG free edition covered.
Although it is go for anti-virus (may cover Torjan also), it is no go for anti-spyware because it did not cover in its free edition.
Why not try http://www.kaspersky.com
It provide a free scanning and then you can download some trial version to remove it.
Of course, the real-time defence is missing in such online scanning.
At the end, you have to pay for those security software.

Avira AntiVIR PE Classic IMO is the best free antivirus. It had the best detection rates of all the free products and is very light on resources.
A-Squared free and SUPERAntiSpyware are also very good at removing trojans.
