Putting this in the "too hard" box. I went on my first date when I was 10 years old. Both families knew and helped us choose what to do. It wasn't a "real" date though. We went to the movies, ate popcorn and scared ourselves half to death watching movies we probably shouldn't have!

In my opinion, whenever they feel they are ready to, without peer pressure and with a boy they genuinely like and have known for some time as a friend.

I think if girls have a close relationship with their mother, an auntie or family friend they should ask for opinion there, too, and draw on their life experience and knowledge before dating.
