I like this quote from the article:

"The McCanns will be particularly disappointed at reports that Jose Manuel Pacheco, the Roman Catholic priest who befriended them, has ordered every trace of the Madeleine appeal removed from his church of Our Lady of the Light.

Friends of Fr Pacheco said he could no longer bear to discuss the case.

"He says it is an extremely unpleasant situation and the McCann family only ever brought him problems.

"He even told one friend they ruined his life.

"There are two completely different Pachecos, the one before the McCanns and this shell of a man after the McCanns. He is a nervous wreck."

.... Seems it wasnt just only Madeleine's life that the McCanns destroyed. Still they'll have a nice Xmas with their 2 children and not the loud, outspoken Madeleine who apparently could be 'very naughty' according to Kate.

Funnycun - Actually you will find a similar story in most of todays papers. I suppose they are all wrong, and that Praia du luz is full of Madeleine posters huh? Give me a break moron.

These arrogant, self-centred McCanns seem to have ruined more than one life. I still feel sorry for the hapless Robert Murat who remains a suspect, even though there is no apparent evidence that he had anything to do with the child's disappearance. He will probably end up penniless whereas the McCanns continue to enjoy a millionaire lifestyle in their luxury home in Leicestershire. My friends in Portugal were astounded when I told them how much doctors get paid in Britain. Medics in Portugal get paid far less yet their hospitals are cleaner and they have no waiting lists for treatment!

I don't know what they expect the people of Praia Da Luz to do, it has been more than seven months since she disappeared and there has been no trace of her. I doubt there is a single person living over there who isn't extremely aware of Madeleine and what she looks like, and sad as it is life has to go on. If her parents had shown more thought for Madeleine in the first place this wouldn't be an issue.

Funny isn't it, that when the papers say things that some people don't want to hear they are all rags and full of lies, but i bet if the 'mail' and other 'rags' said the McCanns were innocent responsible parents, well THEN they it would be true and the papers would be the best thing ever, and links everywhere!!! pathetic really. I feel sorry for all the people in PDL.

I hope the people of Praia DA Luz can move on from all this and get back to what they are good at. It is a shame that these innocent people have had their lives turned upside down by the good Dr's.

Perhaps the priest Dave, knows more than others what is going on. I wonder if he has revealed the confession meeting he had with them.
If they did confess to him then what a terrible burden that must have been for the man.
I have noticed that some of the people on here seem to think this story is fabrication. I dont think so somehow, seeing as its in all the papers.
Well spoken. Have a star

Poor Fr Pacheco, he is either struggling with the knowledge of what Kate said in that "confession" OR he is struggling with the press attention, that claimed he is struggling with what she said. I know what I think.

Sounds like the story of a guy who was heir to a vast country estate and title, was told the family secret on his 21st birthday and never smiled again.

People in Portugal, just want to move on and get on with their lives. There are more important issues in Portugal, without just one missing child.

Oh what a tangled web we weave, ourselves and others to deceive. Bound to have been a bit of collateral damage on this one.
