If I already made the deal, then decided it was an option to not go through with it, then I would speak with the plumber or contractor. He has a right to know the reason since you brought him into your home to help you out.

He may have some ideas as to what your next options are. With winter here, next week you could be screwed and be looking for that plumber, he could put you on a long waiting list while your out of water. Think about it.

That depends on the company you are dealing with. Some require a written contract, others say that a verbal contract is binding.
Personally, I'd say call them and tell them that you don't need their services.
However, if you had a water leak, you need to have the plumbing examined as you may have other weakened spots besides that particular pipe. If you plan on replacing the plumbing, the sooner the better.
Good luck with the remodelling job!

Things don't normally fix themselves.

A verbal contract is only worth the paper it is printed on. Just call up the repaiman and tell him that things seem to be ok and you wont be needing his services at this time.

you could call the maintence workplace in case you reside in an condominium, that is why their there and enable them to do it. in case you do and something is going incorrect you would be at fault. i understand reason that is area of my job. in case you nevertheless desire to do it you will nevertheless could close off the main significant reason you will never get it mounted in time to stay away from a significant flood, till to procure an same valve and placed it in genuine rapid. that is going to be challenging to do nonetheless. additionally turn off the warmth source that is heating it up then run adequate water by using to kick back off the water which you will could do besides. if your breaker container is in the comparable area, do not try it reason you will get zapped 4sure and that i don't think of your life is rather worth that.
