Usually, fractures cause swelling even if its a hair-line crack. But in some rare cases, swelling doesn't occur, maybe due to restriction of space or nerve/muscle dysfunction. Consult an ortho without delay.I wonder how you bore tht pain for 12 long hours.

I fractured my ankle once, went to the doctor, they said it was fine. Ran around in P.E. on a fractured ankle for about 5 or 6 days and then I hear they want me in the school office. I walk down to the office and the secretary goes. Your mom called she says that another doctor looked at your x-rays and you have a fractured ankle and that you shouldn't walk on it anymore lol. While it did hurt a LOT and I thought the pain would just go away it only swelled up after I ran a lot. The fracture got a lot worse after the original doctor visit too and I ended up on crutches for 6 weeks because of it. Lame I know. So yeah I would get that checked if it still hurts in a couple days.

I fractured my ankle 9 days ago and it did not bruise but it did swell quite a bit!! You should get it checked out because even minor fractures can be serious!! GL and feel better soon!

Absolutely! You could very well have a hairline fracture that could get considerably worse if you keep baring weight on it and not have it checked.
