Before making a decision, you should ask yourself, what is it about OSU that I love. Then compare which one is more important to you. If OSU is close to home, you like the environment, and you really feel that it is right for you, I would say go for it. Journalism sounds really great, and you might like it a lot, but it seems that you have only begun to explore it. Basing which college to go to because of your major might be a mistake here. There may be some other major that you could pursue in lieu of journalism like creative expression/writing.
Hold on though, this part is important. When you first go into college, you will always feel like there is not enough time to change your major and that you wont be able to make up the credits. Dont worry. If you go to another school and you find out that you don't like journalism anymore, you can always transfer to OSU and transfer credits. If you go to OSU and take Journalism-like courses, more likely than not, the credits will be applicable towards your major.
Wish you the best of Luck!

Go to the college's website and re-check it. Find the part of the website that is the English department. There might be more there. If not, visit the websites for other colleges to see if they have it. If journalism seems good for you, I would recommend you pursue that. Once you are in college, you can change to another major if you find you really don't care for journalism. I do NOT recommend you pick some generic major at just any college. You really should decide to attend the college that has the highest rating in the major you want. When some colleges have small departments in your major, it is often because the college doesn't focus it's funds and other resources on that major.

Go to the college libraries and look at the catalogs. Just seeing what classes a college teaches can help you decide. Do what you love.

I must add that if you have such broad interests you are very intelligent, and journalism would be a good choice -the news changes daily.

In general I would say choose your college around your major, because you don't want to sacrifice what you really want to do.

But since you're referring to Ohio State (a school that I am familiar with *wink*) I do know of people that come here with a desire to gain experience in journalism by going for a communication major. The communication major here does encompass journalism, and it will also give you education in other areas that you need for journalism, such as communication itself and communication technology. So you may be fine with a general major at the undergraduate level to broaden your academic experience.
Ohio University is known for its journalism program but at the same time, Ohio State has much better academics. So you see, sometimes it's a hard decision to make.

Try to find a college that has both the environment you like, but more importantly, the type of academic program you're looking for. Go about it with an open mind, and from experience I can tell you that it's not always the best idea to get stuck on one school like that. Keep your options open! You will end up happier that way.

Choose a college around your major. You will be going to college for what the next four years, but you will be working at jobs related to what your major does for you for the rest of your life. (sure you don't have to do exactly what your major does, and experiences will lead to opportunities in other fields, but it will help a lot to be able to start off early in your field with an appropriate background.) Journalism is a competitve field, although if you choose not to major in it make sure you get plenty of writing experience (college newspaper, submit to local papers, magazines, etc)

College around Major. You can go and get your Pre-Eds out of the way and if the College doesn't suit your major, transfer.

Go to a college that does. I changed my major twice, which did set me back some but it was worth it-- got a good learning experience out of it. Don’t stress it too much but at your age you probably are.

When you are in the course of studies on "good" majors, ones that you will have good financial future with, you can find many sponsors if you have good GPA. Also you can check for specific scholarships based on demographics and ethnicity.
