I do believe in ghosts and I do believe in the paranormal.
I find it harder to believe that they would be a world-wide hoax.
Here in San Diego, we have a very famous haunted house called THE WHALEY HOUSE and it has been confirmed by several reputable sources to be one of the most haunted locations in the United States.
Although I have never knowingly had an actual encounter, I still believe. I have also never see air but I still believe in air. As far as I am concerned, both are very real.

I keep telling myself that ghosts don't exist, but I get scared of the dark (especially after seeing a horror movie)

yes, my old house was haunted and i've seen ghosts. I rather not talk abt it coz its so scary. But i believe you gotta respect them and they will not do anything to scare you.

They scare me still.
But of course I do believe.
