For trying to get job skills I would recommend the computer. If you are looking at an elective that can be a hobby I would say woodshop.

Computers you can learn on your own, but woodshop will be something not too may people will know how to do and will give you a unique ability. Go for woodshop

There are many possibilities. I wish I could go back in time, to wood shop. Consider making someone a gift: A chair for mom A ladder for yourself A closet organizing system for your messy sister A baseball bat for the poor kid next door (as long as he's non-violent) Don't chicken out on something really easy. How about a checker board made from light and dark woods. Get a motor and build a nice clock? Whatever it is will be special and will likely be treasured by someone.
