A couple of the episodes of the twilight zone scared me to tears...literally crying. The one with the aliens: To serve man, in particular. This was before I saw the Simpsons Spoof.
The Original haunting with Claire Bloom.
The Night of the Living Dead, and the Romero Zombie flicks.
The original Friday the 13th, cause I though Jason was the killer and liked the old lady, then she turned on me.
The Raven (le Corbeau) is freaky from a social perspective. It was banned for like 10 years because it took no prisoners. But it's hard to enjoy in the modern world.
Suicide Club (Japanese-modern) is insane!!!
Reanimator is a lovely uber gore fest. (H.P. Lovecraft.
Willard with Crispin Clover and my beloved "Aunt Hettie" Jackie Burroughs-whose also the voice of the "scary" evil book in Care Bears: The Movie.
Pit and the Pendulum (1990).
I still can't even get through a few minutes of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
The new Stephen King's The Mist, was killer. They even made the ending worse.
I liked the original Cube\
THE MASTERS OF HORROR SERIES IS GREAT!
Lucky McGee's especially. He also did "May".
As for some Horribly humorous cult flicks:
The Boneyard w/ Phyllis Diller
The Company of Wolves with Angela Landsbury
Idle Hands-Stoner andCampy
Sleepaway Camp-Remarkable Ending
Night of the Comet-80's spoof on Romero
Lord of the Ring's Peter Jackson's Bad Taste
His Meet the Feebles is good too, but it's barely horrific.
Night of the Demons 2 (Angela is superhot)
Freeway 2: Confessions of a Trickbaby
Troll (truly a fantasy), and Troll 2 (a nasty horror)

So many people mention "The Exorcist". It wasn't that scary and was a bit ridiculous, rotating head and flying green vomit, I ask you.
For me the scariest was "Halloween", which, right up until the end, had a realistic plot. The ending spoilt the film, although it was necessary in order to be able to make a sequel (which I still haven't seen). "Psycho" was also pretty scary.
As for "Silence of the Lambs", which I guess someone will mention, what was all the fuss about?

The entity, watched it when I was younger totally freaked me out....
It's about a woman in America who has an entity that abuses and violently attacks her, it was supposed to be based on the stories of a real person and it supposedly happens to her daughter now!!
Don't know if I believe that but it did freak me out!!!
Just remembered about Deliverence - Freaky blind boy playing the Banjo.........
