I need something really really meaningful. He has been my best friend since 1st grade and everything I come up with sounds cheesy.. I need serious answers here. I dont want anything like tell him what comes from my heart "although thats what I should do" But yeah.. Help !

Between best friends, the cheesiers it sound, the more it's treasured. Don't worry, just tell him how you really feel and I'm sure he will love it.
I could suggest you choose 3 of his good points or things you like about him (cool attitude, reliables, etc), admire those points then end it with an appreciation. ^_^

Use the old saying of a good friend will bail you out of jail a best friend will sitting right beside you in the cell saying damn that was fun! Just compare how a friend is but how he is a best friend to you. How you manage to get in your own kind of trouble together. Orrr.. you could say something like a friend is good for putting the blame on, a good friend is good for using, a late night smashing mail boxes with your best friend, Priceless! Something like that. I dunno it prolly sounds cheesy to you too.

Well, something funny, yet serious is good. I wouldn't aim for something uber serious. Because if my best friend set me a uber serious card, I would be a little weirded out. But then again, make sure it's not too funny, because then it will seem like you didn't put any energy into it.

try 17things u like abour ur friendships!
u could write seventeen points (his bday, and his years on Earth) about what makes him ur best friend, add humour and seriousness to it, twisted in a smart way. u wud mention funny and memorable accidents that happened to u too together, god points in him and so on..
Happy birthday, u cud add to it some football stickers or whatever sports he likes, celebreties he's a fan of, musical intsrument he likes, u know better, be creative =)

Go for a humorous card. If he is into sports go for one that is sort of sports-oriented.
You know him well enough to know what he thinks is funny. Work from there.
