Easy, when you hurting and unhappy it's seems like the best thing because all pain ends for you. Most people think others will be better off if they were not around. Isn't it selfish to want someone to live knowing they are hurting and unhappy to satisfy our emotions. Besides, Birth is the perfect suicide, we live to die.

People can become totally self absorbed and allow their probelms real, imaginary or exaggerated to crowd on into them to such an extent that they can not see, hear or feel anything else. The irony about suicide (especially if it is with the ture intention of ending your life, rather than a cry for help or attention) it can be a remarkably brave thing to do. I know I wouldn't have the courage to do any self harm, not that I am advocating self harm or suicide. What I am saying is a large number of people who commit suicide or seriously attempt it, have a low sense of self worth. Yet they actually have alot more to offer than they give themselves credit for.
So to answer your question a person who commits suicide may well 'care' for people around them, but their own sense of self worth is so low they may well think they are doing people around them a 'favour' by committing suicide never mind the consequences.

A person commits suicide for one of two reasons. First, they are in a situation/s that seem out of control to them and they see no way out. No light at the end of the tunnel or anyway to rectify it. The second is that they are in such emotional pain that the fear of the unknown, where they are going next, is nothing compared to the agony they have known here on earth. It is not that they don't care for the people that need them, it is that they can no longer handle what they are going through. Please try not to judge or blame, them or yourself.

A person who commits suicide doesn't even think about the people who needs them. They are in so much pain, and mental agony, that a mentally healthy person cannot comprehend. Imagine hating everything about yourself, feeling hopeless all the time, to such a degree that you don't even care about tomorrow or what good things life has to offer. Now, multiply that by ten. These people have to be in so much mental agony that it overcomes their will to live, their obligation to the people they love, their rational thought, their beliefs about death, their fears about death...and when you bind all this together, underneath it all that person probably still cares for the people that need them, but they cannot see it because they are so shrouded in pain.

Joho had it right. I also have come close many times, and the only thing that ever stopped me was thinking about who would have to find my body. Honestly, when I feel like that, I feel like I would be doing everyone a service. For me, I get depressed a lot and I feel like I am a burden on everyone because of the depression, the factors that led to the depression, and ironically because I feel like I am burdening them with my depression, it makes it worse. Not all suicides are selfish acts--just in most cases short-sighted. Take it easy on these people--they're having it rough already.
Hope this helps!

I think that committing suicide is the single most selfish thing a person can do. But I guess they go through with it because they feel that those people in their life don't care about them at all.

Suicide is not a rational act, so they are most likely not considering the consequences of their actions. People who commit suicide are generally depressed, and depression causes lower levels of activity in the frontal lobe of the brain. The frontal lobe is in charge of impulse control.
So, someone who is severely depressed will be less rational and have lower impulse control. This, coupled with feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness can sometimes cause someone to commit suicide.
In this state, they aren't thinking rationally enough to consider the effect that they may be having on the ones who love and need them.

They're in desperate need of help and often don't realise that people are their to help them.
They see themselves as a burden to society and think that by ending it all it's going to end there's and everyone elses suffering, when in actual fact, it makes things much worse for everyone.
The friends/family feel bad in themselves for failing to spot the signs which can lead to disastrous consequences for them also. It's not the solution, it never is. Talk to someone you're close to, or if that fails, talk to someone like the Samaritans, they're always their to help and listen and offer advice. Suicide is not the answer.

Perhaps he/she does care but even people that kill themselves also have needs. These needs are the ones that people fail to address. You also need to note that most suicides are a choice made while drug induced and there are not too many people that have not done something stupid as the result of legal or illegal drugs. You dont get to regret sucide and you do not have the choice to not do it again.

The thing about suicide is that you believe that others don't need you, that they'd be better off without you. You get so much pain from that kind of twisted thinking that you just... well. You can't take it any longer; it becomes too much to deal with, because you have an alienation thing going on. In a twisted way, you begin to think that, "Hey, if I killed myself, they wouldn't have to take care of me, etc. They could do something else with their time." and it becomes a sort of martyrdom in your mind.
