Here is a list of "Earth Kind" roses that are very hardy, disease tolerant, drought tolerant, and absolutely beautiful.
This particular list of roses are from many varieties, but have proven themselves to be the best among roses when it comes to being completely self sufficient. These roses do not require anything in the way supplimental watering, pesticides, or fungicides. I have several "Earth Kind" roses in my garden and after reading about them I decided to test my roses to see if it is true what they say about them. I did nothing to them at all and they flourished. We had a monsoon spring here in OK and my roses all developed blackspot because of the moisture. I treated my non "Earth Kind" roses, but I did not treat the test roses and they came through with flying colors. Anyhow, these roses are definately worth looking into and you can find most of them through breeders like Heirloom Roses which carries thier own roses and many other breeders like Buck Hardy and David Austin.
Here are some of my personal favorites:
Knock out roses
Floribundas
Grandifloras
Old English
Miniatures
Hybrid Musk
Hardy
Buck Hardy bred roses
David Austin bred roses
Heirloom bred roses with the exception of hybrid teas.

When I order roses, I only order from these two breeders. However, I'm sure there are other great breeders out there.
Oh, I would suggest that you stay away from the Hybrid Teas because they are disease prone, grafted, and short lived.
They are beautiful and smell great, but they are very needy roses.

Hello Narayan,
I am an expert on rose cultivation, so I would like to help answer your question, although the question is very general, since you do not mention what climate zone you are in.
Not all roses do well in all climates, but there are a few varieties that are very tough and can do well in both hot and cold climates.
The 'Knock out' roses are outstanding in being totally disease free and tolerating any climate conditions once established.
These roses are extremely low maintenance and doesn't even require deadheading (removing spent blooms) to continue blooming.
The 'Knock out' roses are shrub roses that bloom profusely from spring until late fall.
They are available in red, pink and coral pink in both single and double blooms.
Another variety that is very reliable and easy to grow is the 'Iceberg' roses. It's a white floribunda rose that is so easy to grow and rewards you with such beautiful fragrant creamy white blooms that are also exellent for flower arrangements.
I also would like to mention the 'Easy Elegance' roses by Nature Hills nursery. An outstanding group of roses that any one can grow with no trouble.
Please visit my rose garden Web site for more information and pictures of easy to grow roses.

Good luck with your roses, they are such fun to grow.
Best Regards,
Annelie

Depends on what you mean by best. Any that have ever been All America Selections have been tested to do well in most parts of the country. If you live where there are hard Winters the Brownell Sub-Zero roses have been developed for cold hardiness. Otherwise it is your choice for colors and fragrance. Double Delight has been extrmely popular for 30 yr. and Peace for maybe60. Chrysler Imperial is my favorite dark Red.
