Are you asking an emotional or spiritual question? Light (electromagnetic energy) and temperature (heat energy) are two different things, scientifically speaking. However, they can be indirectly related, e.g., the sun provides both heat and light to the earth.
That being said, I don't see how your question is related at all to your premises. People sleep with the lights off because it's easier to fall asleep when your optic nerves aren't stimulated by light. There are also other biological timing mechanisms which control our sleeping and waking and which synchronize with light/dark cycles (see link).

Because most of us have central heating.
It's easier to sleep in the dark (melatonin and other chemicals) for most people (Vampires excluded).
Not sure about other people but I rarely hang out in dark evil places long enough to notice the temperature.
No darkness (the absence of light which does produce heat) does not equal cold.
For example the day time temperatures in the Antarctica can be 30 degrees below zero (full sunlight) and it;s still cold. Granted it does turn even colder at night but I'm not sure it turns evil.

I am not sure exactly what you are getting at, but they have been playing a segment on fox news once in while for the past few months about this. People who don't sleep in the dark are at a much higher risk of getting cancer. I never paid attention to the details why, so I cant tell you, but I thought I would point that out to you.

People sleep with the lights off because our eyes are sensitive to light. In the evolution of our species we became creatures that operate in the daytime. So we need darkness to sleep.

Because you have evolved to secrete meletonin when there is no sunlight through your superchiasmic gland or something like that. There was nothing to do at night as too hunting because the animals couldn't see very well and other animals could hide so that time was time to allocate enough energy for the next day next meal. melatonin makes you sleepy when it goes thought your bloodstream.
"It becomes dark, your suprachiamic gland secretes melatonin, it flows through your bloodstream inhibiting your CNS and induses sleep."

because our eyes is sensitive to light. When we closes our eyes, we still see light because the eyelids are thin.
But some do prefer lights on.
