There should be a law??? Against what? There are already laws about drinking and driving, driving recklessly, driving to endanger, speeding, etc. What more do you want. If someone wants to break a law they do so. If they want to follow the laws they do so. In the end he acted stupidly, but it was his choice. He weighed the risk of injury or death against the reward of the thrill of driving fast and chose to drive fast. It really sucks and this happened to a friend of mine 2 years ago, but people are responsible for their own decisions.

I don't like careless riders at all, they take chances and put everyone at risk. These type of riders seem to get away with a lot stuff, their actions reflect on good riders as well. Over the years I have lost 4 friends involving a car-motorcycle accidents. I say; if you can't ride responsibly, don't ride at all!!!

I don't go to links but motorcycles are so dangerous. It takes so little to really get hurt. I used to date someone that always drove his bike in all types of weather and for every occasion and I was an idiot to have been hanging on the back. That's even more dangerous. Cars challenge you and don't realize the consequences of what they do to you. We came so close so many times but it was such great fun. One time he hit some uneven pavement and we went down. He kicked out his leg to save me from lots of damage and broke it. We still rode and I slid my leg up to shift. Finally one day we were talking and he missed a red light and had to put it down to avoid traffice and the last thing I remember was getting slung off. I woke up across the intersection underneath a car with tires against my leg and arm. All I did was break my bra strap. Was that luck? After a pretty long and serious relationship he quit a long time job because too many things were happening to him re the motorcycle and moved to CA. I was done with the motorcycle so it worked out but I still remember the constant danger. Then I had two friends that rode to work together and a car flipped on the highway and landed on the second of the two riders. He was killed and it was horrific. I understand your pain and the futility of dealing with your friend's death. I'm so sorry. It's always hard to lose someone especially if it isn't their time and this time of year is worse. My condolences to your friend and his family too.

Hate to sound like an *** hole, but reckless riders have no one to blame but themselves for the end result of their actions. People who go out on bikes and ride at triple digit speeds, weave in and out of traffic, do stunts on the freeway, or consume alcohol before riding, shouldn't be surprised when they end up in a heap on the freeway. I've been riding a motorcycle for a few years now, and despite the dangers, I love the sport. As dangerous as it is, no one should add recklessness to list.

I know what you mean. My friend's son got killed on a motorcycle a few years ago. There should be a law and there is a law.

They shouldn't drive drunk. Duh. There is a law against that. What are you going to do? Hold their hand? It's sad your friend got killed, but people are responsible for their own actions & stupidity. He could have just as easily caused an accident where innocent people were hurt or killed.

"Alcohol might have played a role in the accident, according to police." There is a law.

There are old riders and careless riders, but no old careless riders.

If your friends boy friend would have obeyed the current laws he would still be alive. You can't legislate common sense.
