I will not give my opinion on this, except to say, look at ALL the data and evidence before making an assessment.

I think he calculated it based on numbers of neurons in brain. If it is proven to be true we have to accept it. I am not racist though. But how many people can accept that woman also has less neurons compare to men!!

Knowledge of molecular biology these days, does not allow coming to the conclusion neither that blacks are less intelligent than whites nor that black people play better basketball. Charles Darwin waited for 20 years before he published evolution theory, even he did not lack the evidence. Shouldn’t Dr. Watson be more patient?lol I don’t think they will demand that he return his prize but this is for sure: he’s not going to win Nobel Prize for this paper.

I put this in one of my other answers how blacks wove quilts with escape routes and their white masters just thought it was some beautiful designs. LOL

And once it was found out that blacks could learn to read, the books were hidden and taken from them, because given the same opportunity as another race, blacks could learn too? And thats all thats being faught for still today is opportunity, but the mistakes of a few cost a whole generation.

I've often wondered how races differ from others and which were smarter, I guess the only way to find out would be to look at the data, or to recreate the experiment with what you would think to be more reliable methods, I guess now the I.Q test would be that.

Actually he said "Africans."

I've met a few Black Africans myself, and in my opinion they seem more intelligent and civil than their Afro-American brethren.

That said, I haven't met all Africans or even studied them, so I am not compelled to believe that Dr. Watson's expertly researched and documented assessment was either "ignorant" nor essentially incorrect.

I am mixed Black,Portuguese,English,
German,French,
Italian,Puerto Rican,Native American, and Jewish. I am a Dyslexic,Dyspraxic,ADHDer with above average intelligence. Because of my neurodivergence, mainstream education didn't match my visual spatial learning style. That doesn't mean that I am stupid.

Also......James Watson is found to have black genes. A lot of people who think that they are white have black ancestry. A lot of people mixed with black and very lightskinned passed for white. My stepfather's mother did the same thing.

A new analysis of Dr. Watson’s genome shows that he has 16 times the number of genes considered to be of African origin than the average white European does — about the same amount of African DNA that would show up if one great-grandparent were African, said Kari Stefansson, the chief executive of deCODE Genetics of Iceland, which did the analysis.

“This came up as a bit of a surprise,” Dr. Stefansson said in an interview, “especially as a sequel to his utterly inappropriate comments about Africans.”

After the news of Dr. Watson’s genetic ancestry was published in The Times of London on Sunday, much of the British media played the news for a lark, with headlines like “Revealed: Scientist Who Sparked Racism Row Has Black Genes” and “DNA Pioneer James Watson Is Blacker Than He Thought.”

I definitely don't agree with his black are less intelligent than all races. I have known very intelligent blacks including one that got straight A's.

I find it hard to believe that there is any genetic corelation between skin color and neural function (intellegence).......

Wow! I just learned something very interesting while researching this question. I was about to say that the pigment that colors our skin, melanin, has no neural function, but I found out I was wrong.

In fact, melanin does have a neural function. A type of melanin called neuromelanin is found in certain types of healthy brain cells, and death of these melanin containing neurons may lead to diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. So, melanin is actually required for a healthy brain. Awesome!

But still, skin melanin is a different type called eumelanin. And I still highly doubt that skin's eumelanin is significantly related to neural function and intellegence. I've met quite a few people with skin darker than mine who I consider to be smarter than me.

I would think that any correlation between intellegence and skin color would likely be socially dependent. People in a lower social class have less opportunity for education and are therefore perceived as less intellegent. It just so happens that many black people find themselves in a lower social class.

True he did say that. If we were to look at the evidence as you say then it would appear to be true.

I've seen smart people in all races and I've seen dumb-asses in all races.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck.
