Was it just a reaction to the rumors of her being pregnant, or does she really mean it? Is she just following in the footsteps of the Jonas Brothers?

Also, why is it important to save yourself until marriage? Why not just until you are in love and feel safe?

I don't know a lot about her, and can't comment on her virginity or lack thereof. As far as the last part of your question, it's probably best not to just wait "until you are in love and feel safe"...

I thought I was in love and felt safe in 8th grade; thankfully I wasn't stupid enough to have sex at that age.

Waiting until marriage may suit your religious purposes, and may or may not be right for you. Regardless, you should probably have other criteria in addition to waiting until you're "in love" and "feel safe."

Could you just imagine the reaction Miley Cyrus would get if she announced in an interview that she is a virgin but only plans on staying that way until she falls in love and feels safe doing it with that guy. Personally, someone's virginity or lack of is really no one's business, but we live in a 'have to know' society that puts people on a pedestal and then tries to chop away that pedestal by digging and probing into every aspect of someone's life.

I think both.
She was born and raised a Christian, so probably will never loose her virginity before she is married.
But she actually said it in reaction to all the press rumors about her being pregnant.

So it has always been true, just never said until now.

Miley has grown up in a Christian background and she didn't say this just for the heck of it. It's in her beliefs that you should stay pure til marriage. What is so wrong with that? I admire her for coming out and announcing that personal detail to the world. Go Miley! :)

i think the answer to the second part of your questions is religion.
its frowned upon in MANY of them if the woman is not a virgin when married.

i myself agree with the fact that if your in love and feel safe, that its okay. i married the man i lost my virginity to, and we've been together 4 years. :]
