I don't understand this question. They are different places. Iceland is an independent country with a population of about 500,000. Greenland is a self-governing territory of Denmark, and only has a population of about 45,000. Most of the population of Iceland is descended from Viking settlers and their Irish wives. Greenland's population is mostly native Inuit.

Do you mean you don't know where they are? Or what?

Iceland is a cold volcanically active Island northwest of Great Britain. It is a sovreign nation with a population of about 310,000, whose ancestors are mostly Norwegian. It was colonized by Vikings a little more than 1000 years ago. It has its own language and is a member of NATO and EFTA. Iceland has no military forces at all.

Greenland is the world's largest Island that is not also considered a continent. It lies northwest of Iceland and Northeast of Canada. The cener of Greenland is a huge icecap which occupies most of its territory. It has a population of about 57,000 people.

Greenland was discovered by Vikings not too long after Iceland was, and was colonized by Vikings also. But Greenland is farther north than Iceland and the Viking colonies eventually died out some time in the 1400's. Thereafter it was inhabited by the Inuit, who you might know by the name Eskimoes (although that name is generally considered incorrect and inappropriate).

The nations of Norway & Denmark reasserted their claim to it in 1721, and it has been ruled by the Danes since then, though in 1979 it was granted home rule, though it is not yet an independent country (and may never be).

well greenland(kalaallit nunaat) an overseas territory of Denmark is the largest island in the world, it has the most northerly point of land in the world and is dominated by one of the world's largest ice caps. Greenland has a population of 56,000 compared to that of iceland which has a population of aprox 470,000. Iceland is also in europe and greenland is considered part of north america.
Iceland's population lives off geothermal power from geysers and hot rocks that are heated from the earth because iceland sits on a mantle plume on the mid atlantic ridge. this power is used to generate electricity in a cheap, eco friendly, and effective way. Greenland is not volcanically active and does not have a heat source appart from the sun in summer for 6 months.
Greenland was part of the "jigsaw makeup" of Pangea ( a huge continent that existed billions of years ago) as pangea broke up greenland was still attatched to the united kingdom in the north, evidence has been found that rocks of exactly the same makeup and age (greenland contains some of the oldest rocks on earth) were found in northern scotland and southern greenland. Iceland is a very young island and did not exist in the "jigsaw" of the supercontinent pangea. this is because when the north american plate and eurasian plate drifted appart, a magma plume rised to the surface and gave birth to iceland.
Iceland is also more urbanised and contains allot more major cities due to its more southern position than that of greenland which only contains a few cities including the largest city Nuuk (godthab) also the capital to the south of the island. while iceland has a much larger capital city called reykjavik to the southwest of the island.
the flags are very different. iceland's flag is blue containing a red scandinavian cross with a while border, the red was added to the cross because of norwegian influence and has never been altered since. Greenland's flag (Erfalasorput, meaning "our flag" in greenlandic is half white half red with a red semicircle in the top while half and a white semicircle in the bottom red half.
the red half represents the sea surrounding the island, the white half represents the huge icecap that dominates greenland, the white semicircle represents the glaciers and sea ice, and the red semicircle represents the fjords that lie around greenland's coasts. these fjords were created by glaciation. however the coastline of iceland closely represents the coastline of southern greenland due to it's fjords, however greenland's hostile northern coastal sea ice is nearly always present but only melts slightly in the summer months. ( some extra information for you, i am the greenlandic expert and great with iceland)

They are different countries. Iceland is independent, while Greenland is a part of Denmark (NOT Norway, as some above me suggested). Ice land is an island about the size of Ireland, while Greenland is far larger; it is about the size of India.

Please forget approximately all and sundry who says "Greenland is Ice and Iceland is green!". the real subject is so lots extra complicated than that. Iceland has significant icy components (which contain the main important glacier in Europe), whilst Greenland has numerous area without ice conceal the place vegetation boost (that's the place human beings settled). the two between the places you referred to have not got a single climate, and variety dramatically with region and altitude -- great-moist to barren area, temperate to frigid. do you opt to check 2 particular cities -- say, Reykjavík and Nuuk?
