married under islamic law and not having the marriage registered can a woman seek protection under domestic violence act and which law will supersede indian law or islamic law

Protection of women from domestic violence Act, provision of section 498A Indian Penal Code in relation to cruelty, The Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 are all those provisions of Indian laws which are criminal in nature & prevail/supersede over the Muslim Personal (Shariat)Law .The Muslim Personal (Shariat) Law provisions that with relation to marriage, divorce, maintenance, inheritance, adoption & other such civil issues will prevail over Common Indian law relating to these issues, unless such Muslim Marriage too got registered under this law i.e. The Special Marriage Act,1954.

Indian Law in Common Law. Islamic Law is religion guideline/law.

Under both area, witness or document need to produce in other to seek justice. No proof..no justice.

there are family laws. hindu family law , islamic family law, and general law for christian. family law will supersede general law of india. but in the case of demestic violence general law supersede family laws.
