It depends on the fiber content of the shirt. If it's polyester then no amount of bleach will change the color much. If it's a natural fiber then bleach will change the color but it may never go completely white before the bleach breaks down the fibers. One way to go is to buy color remover, sold in the same places that sell dye. TOXIC stuff that smells horrible! Use adequate ventilation! Bleach is also activated by heat so using hot water in your washing machine will work faster than cold. Don't mix the bleach with the color remover! By the way, bleach is also toxic so wear gloves if you are putting your hands in the water to swish around the shirt.

it's not gonna turn the shirt completely white. it's gonna be all blotchy and even if you get it completely white, the fabric is going to be so damaged from sitting in abrasive bleach for so long. my suggestion is just to go out and get the same shirt in white :P but if you were to do it, youd have to put the shirt to soak in a bleach &water mixture for a long time.

There are dye removing solutions that MIGHT work, but it's really hard to get rid of dye that's been professionally put in. In order to dye it white with bleach you'd probably have to use a solution that's so strong it would eat away the fabric of the shirt. If you're determined to try it look in the dye section at the supermarket -- I think the brand name is Rit, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I know they have a dye remover.

you won't get it completely white without destroying the fabric, no matter what you do
