I too was very anxious, so I know how you feel. I do think the mind has a huge affect on our bodies, so constant worrying could be messing you up.
Try very hard to only allow yourself a set time of 10 to 20 minutes of worrying. After that time's up, you must stop until your next worrying session. You can break this time up through the day, or use it all in one session a day.
After your worrying time let it all go and you know you will have your time again later. Now concentrate on what you want or need to do. You are perfectly normal, and when it's your time, you will start. Enjoy this time. Sometimes period make you feel terrible, or it may even be hard for you to do things you love to do at times. The best news for you is they had a study and found that girls who start their period later-live longer, and have fewer female problems. So relax and be grateful you don't have to deal with it yet. Use your worry time for worrying only. If something pops in your head to worry about, jot it down and put it in your worry box, and you can worry about that at your scheduled time. This puts you in control, and you will feel happier and more relaxed.Take care!

You may be a little bit too old to enjoy this book the way I did. But I remember reading Beverly Cleary's book, "Are you there God, it's Me, Margaret". I think it dealt with exactly what you're dealing with now. It's definitely a dated book, but it's very entertaining, and I think it's been recently updated (in the past year or so).
I know that stress can affect a woman's cycle, but I don't think that worrying about when you start is really enough of a stress to delay it. But who says you have to stop thinking about it? You could turn this into a serious opportunity:
Most young women don't know when they're about to start, so they never can track just what changes happened when and what led right up to the day they started. You could journal about how you are feeling emotionally, how your body is feeling (yes, it will sometimes feel quite different right before you start--fatter, thinner, sensitive to the touch, swollen, crampy, sleepy, ... ), and just generally what's going on with you.
For one thing, journaling is one of the best ways to deal with anxiety, which is part of the problem, right? Then, when the day finally comes, you'll be able to review the changes and figure out what indicates that you're about to start.
Good luck.

I don't know if anyone answered your actual question, but yes, stress can delay your period, as can be extremely active in sports and a number of other things. Don't worry, you will get it and then you'll wonder why you ever wanted it. And 'Are you there god, it's me margaret' is a GREAT book, thumbs up on that recommendation.
