I would not because I am a scardy cat. I need to know if something strange happens that someone medically trained is close by.

I would almost consider it if I wasn't so afraid of the pain. I know...I'm a wuss lol. But I also HATE needles. I've never given birth so I wouldn't know what to expect. I also live 5 minutes away from a hospital, so if anything bad happened, I would be close. I think I would like the comfort factor more than anything...but then I really don't know if I'll care about that too much when I'm in all that pain lol. If you really want to do it, go for it. I wouldn't suggest it if you're not very close to a hospital though. Sometimes unexpected things happen, and there's nothing we can do about it. I wish you the best of luck!

I want to do a natural home birth. However, I fear if complications occur, I won't be able to save my baby. I live about 45 minutes away from a hospital.

The main reason why I won't go to a hospital as my first choice is because I want to be able to have any position I want to give birth. I want to have my baby directly after he/she is out. I don't want anyone to induce my labor because I'm overweight.

That's only the tip of the iceberg really.

I don't think I would just because I would be too nervous if something happened (plus I am getting older close to the higher risk age). Also, there is a midwife clinic in my city, which apparently has a great reputation - and it's covered by health care (I live in Canada). I think if you are comfortable with it and you are pretty sure that it'll be an uncomplicated birth, go for it! Just know that you will have to take you baby in to get checked out by a doctor, the next day or so

No i would never birth at home unless i was snowed in or something absolutley horrible was happening outside and i had no choice.

Too many things can go wrong during a birth, and God forbid something happens to the baby or to me, or that one of us should die all because i wanted a home birth. .... its too dangerous and even though most births are uneventful and go normally in hospitals, i dont want that risk, you know what if i am the one that needed the emergency c -section or this or that and because i didnt have it someone dies.

Absolutely. If I ever have another child then I definitely want a home birth. I wanted one with my son but my husband didn't feel comfortable because he was a huge baby and his mom ended up needing an emergency c-section with him. But if I had to do it over again I would definitely do a home-birth. After doing much research I realize how invasive and problematic hospital births can be. They usually are the CAUSE of many complications/infections. Plus, I think I would feel more comfortable birthing in my own space with familiar people around me... rather then random nurses coming in and out.

I wouldn't just because I would like to be able to have a doctor and pediatric unit there in case anything went wrong. A lot of hospitals support natural birth and even water births now-a-days, so I'd just go with them. However, it's your choice.

No because I had an emergency c-section (totally unexpected my mom & sisters had natural no medication births, thought i would too) with my first &I had to have a D&C with a miscarriage with my 2nd. I'm ttc#3 & would like to have the safety of emergency doctors on hand just in case.

NO! why would anybody want to do that?? it is not the 1800's where we dont have the means...

thats what hospitals are for! they have all the proper equipment to save lives & to monitor your child (& yourself) to protect your health & well-being, to prevent tragitys that used to occur SO much more with home (or out of hospital) births. many risks are at steak when such a tramatic thing is taking place, i dont know about you (or anyone else) but MY BABY is the LAST thing i want to put at risk... hospitals can offer you a natural *monitored birth.

Birth is unpredictable, it is not up to us, that is why we cannot act as if we can control everything, expect the unexpected.

My choice is to give birth naturally at home. I do not like needles and I prefer it to be in a home setting so that me and my close friends and family get to enjoy the baby all together. Its easier because you are familiar with your surroundings. You have everyone there to back you up and help you.

If the pregnancy was low risk and I had a midwife that would be with me, I might consider it.

I think I would be more comfortable in a hopital where the baby could get immediate attention should something go wrong.
