It's the parents who are responsible for the nuts on the streets.

Mass shootings don't usually come so close together in the US. It is a kind of disturbing sequence right now. [In some countries, mass murders are much more common, and in some much less.]
The idea of gun control as a preventive measure is worth examining. Most mass shootings take place in locations where guns are not permitted. Thus, the murderer enters the place knowing that he is the only one there with a gun. At the New Life Church, however, there was an armed security guard who ended the carnage quickly.
At least in the US, mass shootings don't happen in rough or gang-ridden neighborhoods. The reason is obvious: in such a neighborhood, you know that some of the people are armed, though you don't know which ones.

There are some similarities between those guys, mass shooters which appeared this year: with Virginia Tech, Finland case, the Ohio Mall, The Missionary.
They are very young ( around teenage years). They have most characteristics of a mental disorder. Some were on medications. They had suicidal tendencies and some culture of violence and hate. They also killed themselves.( at the Missionary it was later proved that the shooter died with his own bullet). They left suicidal notes or "legacy"(i.e video tape in Virginia Tech case). They posted threats on Internet( except the Ohio Mall case). The shooting appear to satisfy their wish of being in attention of the world after they felt rejected by society. They were disconnected from their parents and lived by their own.( I don't know that about Finland case).
All these similarities clearly indicate a pattern. The analysis should start from here and try to understand what is the root of this evil.

Since the gun laws we ALREADY have on the books aren't being enforced, why would we want more. As far as usage, yes that is a problem, if more Americans carried weapons these mass shootings might be stopped before they become mass shootings. So go back to the Brady Bunch and try again.

Back in the day, parents and children sat down together at a table and had their evening meal... and talked. That has been missing for years now. And now we see the repercussions. The shooters are almost alway young white men ( except for the Tech massacre), distanced from family, and often on some sort of prescription medicine.... which is always easy to get, too. And you are correct... it is fairly easy to get a gun in the USA. Hollywood also shows us that " Rambo" and the "Terminator " are cool. All of that makes for a deadly cocktail.

I think your last question answers your first.
Because guns are more accessible these days is the reason why we are seeing so many youth shootings, but gun control begins with the parents. The bigger question to me is, "Why don't people know what is going on with their kids" ?. Not just that their kids have a gun, but what is so dramatically going on in their kids lives that leaded them up to this point without the parents even realizing what is going on with their kids. Perhaps, if parents had more involvement with not only their own children, but with all the other children in their community, much of this could be avoided??????
But then, so many people who are not fit to be parents are having kids. They are not responsible enough to take care of their own life, so naturally sex is their drug to which they don't use birth control, and all these kids are basically, for the lack of a better word, a "mistake".

The problem is human nature. We seek power and dominance over the world around us. A gun in the hand of a person who feels powerless makes them feel powerful and in many situations, clouds their judgment and the ability to reason. Toss in a little fear, insecurity, and frustration and you have a recipe for disaster.

Do you ask your CRIMINALS not to use guns? Then how do you control guns usage? By taking them away from law abiding citizens? Maybe the reason there are so many shootings is because the CRIMINALS know most people don't have any way to protect themselves.

It is very easy to understand. It is the... Well, let me make it really easy for everyone. Here is the formula:
IRRESPONSIBLE PEOPLE+A SOCIETY THAT LOVES AND PROMOTES VIOLENCE (wars and the media)+MENTAL ILLNESS+DRUGS and ALCOHOL+GUNS (the real stars)=LOTS AND LOTS OF SHOOTINGS.
