Makes me wonder how many other females are going to support Obama because of Oprah. What do you guys think about this? My sister knows nothing about Obama, but wants to vote for him simply because Oprah said so...

Right guy, wrong reason. Tell her to log on to Obama's website and learn a little more about him. He will do the best job, but she needs to be able to explain why. All in all, its better than voting for whoever Ann Coulter says to vote for.

Thankfully, there aren't too many voters like your sis, no disrespect intended. Most people value their vote way too highly to vote for someone simply because a celebrity endorses them, even Oprah. A new poll came out in Iowa just this week, taken after the Oprah strategy was announced. Where Obama had been up 4 points on Hillary in Iowa 2 weeks before, this one reversed it and now she's up on him. It's a small change, but a significant one, as most politicos are attributing it to a sort of backlash against Obama thinking Oprah is some political medallion he can wear around his neck.

I know a lot of females, being one myself. And I know none of them are moved a whit by her endorsement of Obama. They like Oprah, but come on. We're talking about a woman who doesn't even vote most of the time, and doesn't really know anything about politics on a practical level.

I agree your sister should probably look a little more closely at the options, but if she agrees with Oprah's politics and trusts Oprah's judgement why shouldn't she follow Oprah's lead and support Obama?
curious - what a ridiculous lie. Why would someone worth 2.5 billion sell out for a measly million.
You know as well as I do that Oprah is a liberal Democrat and is supporting Obama because she believes in him.

I'm going to tell you what I think my friend. No offense but I believe is because of people like this that this country is the way it is. People don't vote because they care, they simply vote because someone says so (especially the media). If I were you I would talk some sense into your sister and tell to take this elections more serious for they might be the last one we have. Just tell her to do a bit more research and if she doesn't want to do for herself tell her to at least do it for the country or at least for other generations to come. Thank you for considering my opinion and hope that helps.

Oh the power of celebrities... I think your sister needs to be more informed and do a little research to see if she really wants to support Obama for what he stands for rather than the fact the Oprah endorses him.

Please, without her having access to google, have her tell you what his stance is on ANY given issue. Most people are in the situation that they can't beyond Oprah or Chuck Norris said so. Kind of shows you how retarded Americans can be (no offense to your sister) we'll vote for so-and-so because they are black, female or friends with Jennifer Love Hewitt. It is still early in the campaign hopefully she'll be enlighted about the other canadates.

I'm hoping a lot of the people who would only vote for Obama because Oprah said to won't register to vote. If they're that uninformed that they didn't even know who he was before, they'll probably forget to register.

I like Oprah and all,BUT to follow her and vote for someone that she is voting for, thats just plain dumb. NOT that ur sister is dumb, i'm just saying that ur sister sounds like more of a follower then a leader, it would b good on her part to look into this a little further.

Oprah is entertaining because she isn't very smart. She is constantly trying to learn on her TV show. She may be on Obamas side because he is charming and well spoken, or because they are of the same race, or maybe she just wants to make sure Hillary has no chance.
Obama shouldn't be President now as he really isn't qualified and his ideas are stupid and lack logic.

I'm just surprised Oprah isn't running. I for one will not vote for someone who doesn't even show respect for our flag, no matter where he stands on other issues.

I'm sorry to hear your Sister doesn't have a mind of her own... I have NOTHING against Oprah or Barack- But I DON'T make my decisions based on the Influence of OTHER people (I don't care WHO they think they are). God gave us (MOST of us) -Brains. And I suspect HE expects us to USE them. If we can't make our OWN decisions, then Heaven Help Us that the person we end up "following"- isn't another Hitler. :(
