The power of President is expanded through the constitution and laws.

The executive branch is in charge of implementing the laws, administering the government and providing public services.

The Finance, Transportation, Social Services and Health Offices are some of the Federal Executive Departments.

Supreme Court decisions are based on precedents and applicable laws.

Given that the governor of North Carolina suggested, some months ago, that the elections be canceled, the possibility is greater than it was four years ago. But i still believe the chances of that are remote. However, many of the things people thought would never happen in America only ten or twenty years ago are happening right now. (Some people even doubt that Obama is eligible to hold the office of president, as he was not born of parents who were US citizens.) So unfortunately, the scenario is not impossible. PS Michael Savage's views - which are frequently labeled as "extreme" - were probably shared by a majority of Americans only 25 or 30 years ago. So again very little would surprise me. I too am very concerned about this country.
