Look at migrant information for Melbourne - info of living there and jobs Victoria - http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au
That website will be a great starting point for you. There is info on that site for Skilled Migration Program.

When you come to Australia, you might have to do some professional development in order to be allowed to work here, but don't worry.

Your best bet might be to just get a place to stay and a lousy job to start with. I'd recommend factories, because you'd have excellent English skills anyway, and it's not much money, but it's better than nothing.

I strongly recommend that you think about moving outside Melbourne or Sydney, to regional areas. There are heaps of jobs and it's a lot cheaper to live (housing etc is half or a quarter the price of some Melbourne areas).

With your background, you could try Aged or Disablility care for a while, until things are all sorted out. I have some immigrant friends who were nurses in Africa, who came to Australia but their qualifications weren't recognised, so they got some training in Aged Care to tide them over.

Your best bet for accomodation will be to check the websites of real estate agents in the suburbs or towns you are interested in. There is hardly any rental accomodation in Melbourne, and most of it is very expensive. However, if you move to a country city like Geelong (not far from Melbourne) or Bendigo, or Ballarat, or Shepparton,(heaps of fruit picking jobs over summer in Shepparton -- really easy money) you will get much cheaper accomodation. Even a caravan park might be an option, because you might not have a lot of belongings, and caravans come with fridges and stoves and furniture in the caravans anyway, and they are cheap to live in. They often have cabins for people to rent if they don't have their own caravan, so it's cheap accomodation, and you can move out pretty quick if you get your own place.

You can contact me for more information, and I can help you find contact details of caravan parks etc if you like.

Good luck, and welcome to Australia.
