In the city where I live, an animal-rights group went out to a mink farm near the outskirts of the city and set them all free overnight.

Most of them got hit by cars or ran right into the river (it was on the edge of a steep embankment). It was pretty gruesome.

A city is no place for a large, feral animal. So no-- I wouldn't ever release large, wild animals into the community, for both the safety of the animals and the community.

Yes, sort of wish I could. They're all locked-up, away from their natural environment (their zoo environment is merely a lower-class imitation), and they can never experience true freedom. Think aboot it: would you want to be locked in some random house for the rest of your life? Unfair, no? They don't belong on a dinner plate (go vegetarianism), and they don't belong in a cage, they deserve freedom and respect. I mean, we humans are animals, too, just the most evolved species currently. Then again, the animals are protected from hunters, hunters who deserved to be hunted themselves......

I would worry about the terror they would feel at the traffic and people that would get hurt and their ultimate death. I would rather find a way to get them back to the wild where they should have lived their lives. But sadly, they would not know what to do to survive.

No. Most of them aren't from the town the zoo is in. They'd not survive in the climate, wouldn't survive in any city in their own native climate, and wouldn't be safe to have running wild.

why dont you start with the lion you idiot.

people like you amaze me. first, zoo's keep some species of animals alive that would die in the wild. and second, great you set wild animals free in ...lets say new york/ philly something like that what do you think will happen? they will be recaptured or eventually shot if they cant be captured (at least the dangerous ones). not too many people want lions roaming around town. i swear you idiots think it will be like the movie madagascar and the animals will pair up steal a ship and escape to the jungle. grow up.
