yes make sure you use teflon tape or thread seal on the conections to prevent leakage and secure the pipe to avoid viberation good luck

There is no reason why it wouldn't. Just use pipe joint compound on the threads. Contrary to what the other answerer said galvanized pipe shouldn't be used for gas because the gas causes the zinc to flake off and stop up the burners, etc. For gas use black iron. Galvanized pipe is for water, black pipe is for gas, don't get them mixed up. Of course galvanized is threaded for valves, it Will work, use Teflon tape or putty for the threads.
