Why does it matter that they are parking illegally? How does it affect you?

At any rate, it probably depends on what state and municipality you live in if you have any legal recourse with another law enforcement agency. And you could always print up a nasty letter or fake citation to put under their windshield to irritate them: http://www.prankplace.com/parking.htm.

If calling the police has not resulted in any action i.e. the car is still being parked illegally, take pictures of the vehicle for a period of say two weeks; pictures that record date & time, then go to your next city council meeting and present your evidence to them and politely let it be known that reports to the police have not corrected the problem.

I did this when my tenant could not park in front of their own house as a local thrift center's employees were parking there every day plus they were also parking across one end of my driveway. It resulted in the owner of the store stopping it.

Good luck.

Good luck! I have no clue. At my university, apartment complex and I have noticed even at Kroger people are always parking in handicapped spots that have no plates or thing hanging from the mirror. I have called the cops several times- seeing as how they take the handicapped spot in front of my building- I am the only one in the building with a plate and they know this. I think they just do it to pi$$ me off. The cops don't do anything.

Gather your undisputely truth about the illegal parking .. and of your attempts to get the cops to do something about it.

Keep notes .. names, dates, time, conversation, etc.

Also - contact the Chief of Police - and make a formal complaint. See what happens.

If nothing ever happens .. then contact higher-up officials, with your proof and you can "show & tell".

I would take out menus on the inside of the windowsheild whipers of the car to make it look like they have a lot of tickets on it.

To a cop, this is like a glazed, springled donut now sitting on the car. They HAVE to stop. At this point their going to be pissed that they aren't real tickets and won't be able to tow the vehical but they WILL ticket it. and ticket it, and ticket it. Because this is the car they couldn't tow and they'll never forget it, so being pissed they'll keep ticketing it.

Put a note on their windshield every day that says (in variation), "must be nice to be one of the special people who don't have to obey the laws like the rest of us mere mortals" Do this a few times and this moron will get the idea.

If it isn't a major safety issue get over it. It's bad enough we have the government telling us how tall we have to be in booster seats until we're 18 or whatever the hell it is.

Call a towing company! I'm sure that $300 won't hurt them. That's about how much they charge to release a car. How do you think they stay in business, from donations? Call a towing company, they will most likely go p/u the car.

Request the car be towed by reporting it to the Police Headquarters.

If it actually was illegal, they'd do something about it. But, unfortunately, people being inconsiderate and annoying is not against the law.
