Yeah its fine if you need to cancel it, its just your computer rearranging things so they are closer together and faster to get to.

If you are talking about 'files that could not be defragmented' or green lines in the fragmentation graph, they are system files which the built in defragger cannot defrag. Besides these, any program running in the background can also interrupt the task and whatever is in use may not be defragged.
Its a good idea to run it when you have time to spare and let the task complete, its NOT a good idea to have a power cut in the midst of the task since its rearranging file fragments by moving them about.

Hi there. Generally speaking, yes. For newer Windows OS's, it may sometimes take 2-3 times of Disk Defrag before the large majority (or all, in some cases) of data is properly defragmented. There are other third party applications (O&O Defrag comes to mind) that have been known to do a better job than the default defrag utility in Windows.

Not defragging makes it run slower. It does not jeopardize the safety of the information stored.

it should be ok it wont wreck files or anything ..if you stop it in the middle of defreg what happens is you are not letting it sort it and put things into place so your computer wont be as fast
