My daughter is coming up on being a month old in just a few days. She loves to be held and we love holding her. However, a lot of times, not always, it seems that when she falls asleep, once we put her down, she wakes up and cries. She won't stop crying until she's picked up again. Does anyone have any tips on how to help her sleep and what to do to help her sleep alone?

Oh, we had the same thing with our son. He loved to be held (im sure its the same for all babies). He would wake as soon as we put him down!
The lesson we learnt was to not rush in as soon as they make a sound - let them cry for a bit, sometimes they stop themselves and go right back to sleep!
Sleeping is a tricky one, but you get through it. Hope that helps a little.
(I didn't want to over-load you with too much advice, as it really confused me when everybody had different ideas about how a baby "should" be sleeping)

First off, I suggest getting a sling. That way she can still be close to you, but you can have your hands free. Other than that, maybe try laying WITH her for a few minutes(my 3 month old co-sleeps, so we just lay in bed together while I nurse her, she drifts off, and I slowly creep away, lol) and then try to scoot away without waking her. Remember, she's only a month old, and until she was born, she was used to being held by you(inside) every minute of every day. It's comforting for her. They grow so quickly, that I would try and just cherish the time that you DO get to hold her so much. Pretty soon she'll be up and running and there will be much less time for snuggling =)

Good luck!

Young infants sleep very lightly for about 20 minutes before drifting into deeper sleep. If you want to successfully lay your baby down after she falls asleep, you need to wait until she enters that deeper sleep phase.

Here's some good information on infant sleep:

Try a "heart Beat animal" worked for us, also just don't pick her up, you need to train her not the other way around. But also make sure you burped her well it just could e traped air.
